Proprietary institution of postsecondary education with multiple locations is seeking a student services professional with expertise in advising and counseling students and handling academic and disciplinary issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage small Student Services team
  • Advise adult career students on achieving academic success
  • Mentor students performing at a remedial math/reading level
  • Resolve disciplinary issues in a fair and prompt manner in compliance with school policy
  • Project an approachable and caring presence, yet apply school policy objectively and consistently

Qualifications:

Financial Aid Specialist

Proprietary institution of post secondary education with multiple locations is seeking a financial aid professional with expertise in day-to-day processing of aid and familiarity with the Code of Federal Regulations and FSA Handbook. This full-time position is

Responsible for
School-wide level TIV Packaging and Awarding as well as administration of institutional and outside agency grants and scholarships;
Management of R2T4 processes, including all required adjustments within the federal guidelines;

Participate in

  • Team efforts to respond to approximately 1,000 monthly electronic, in-person, and telephone Financial Aid related inquiries
  • Internal and annual audits
  • Ongoing development, including creation and editing, of targeted training materials on various financial aid topics
  • Assisting campuses with FWS projections and payroll reconciliation Other duties may be assigned


Skills/Qualifications
3+ years of progressive financial aid experience that includes packaging and awarding, R2T4 processing, direct contact with students, as well as policy and procedure implementation

  • High level of computer competency including ability to develop complex Excel spreadsheets and in depth experience and knowledge of EdExpress
  • Must be a good listener who responds positively to students and is able to deal with conflict
  • Should be able to work independently and manage project and assignments from launch to completion
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, or other quantitative major is preferred
  • Default management, forecasting, budgeting skills are desirable

HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM MANAGER

BIR Training Center is a multi-campus proprietary regionally accredited institution of career and language education. Established in 1993, BIR Training Center educates over 2,500 students annually at its four Chicago campuses. BIR is seeking to fill a full-time position of Health Information Technology (HIT) Program Manager.

Duties per area of responsibility:
1. Participates in instruction and curriculum development by:

  • Reviewing and revising program goals and learning outcomes.
  • Leading the redesign of the HIT program.
  • Developing and reviewing course syllabi (i.e. implementing ICD-10 training in the curriculum)
  • Evaluating textbooks and learning materials.
  • Teaching and substituting as needed.
2. Maintaining and fostering industry relations by:
  • Keeping abreast of trends and changes within the field.
  • Establishing and maintaining industry contacts.
  • Enhancing the School's recognition in the health information technology arena.
3. Conducts the daily (year-round, multi-campus) administrative operations for the HIT program by:
  • Managing existing processes and procedures, initiating improvements, and participating in creating new processes for the HIT program.
  • Working with faculty management to recruit new faculty.
  • Integrating industry trends into the HIT program curriculum.
4. Works with faculty by:
  • Ensuring all HIT courses as taught meet learning outcomes and objectives.
  • Conducting industry-related professional development training.
  • Providing assistance for HCP instructors with practicum and instructional related issues.
  • Participating in the onboarding process of new HIT faculty.
5. Works with students by:
  • Holding office hours to assist students with academic and career related issues.
  • Mitigating and resolving academic issues for the benefit of the School and students.


Qualifications:
BS/BA in a healthcare related field; Master's degree desirable.

  • 5 years of experience in revenue cycle in a hospital, clinical setting, or insurance company.
  • Experience teaching or training adults in classroom or clinical settings highly preferred.
  • Current CBCS/CMAA (NHA) or CMS (AMT) certification, ability to obtain one within 90 days of hiring, or relevant background.
  • Hands-on knowledge of electronic medical records creation and implementation processes.
  • Proven track record of developing long-term professional relationships.
  • Dynamic and concise communication skills with strong conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Medisoft.

Test Preparation Program Manager

BIR Training Center is a multi-campus proprietary regionally accredited institution of career and language education. The selected candidate will oversee all aspects of the Test Preparation program, assume an active role in promoting the programs to prospective students, and establish and develop relationships with local colleges and universities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively seeks and develops partnership agreements with local colleges and universities
  • Promotes the program to prospective students internally and externally
  • Promotes the program to prospective students internally and externally
  • Develops and improves the curriculum for test preparation programs
  • Evaluates student performance and program efficacy
  • Provides testing information to current students and deals with student issues as needed
  • Takes lead in the process of establishing a licensed IELTS Testing Center on site

Qualifications:
We are seeking a seasoned professional who has:

  • 5+ years administrative work experience in a university, college or language school in curriculum development, program evaluation, promotion, or similar field
  • 3+ experience teaching GMAT, GRE, LSAT, TOEFL, IELTS or similar test preparation is highly desirable
  • An advanced degree is required
  • High energy, creativity and initiative
  • An established network of educators in the Chicagoland area

Part-time Medical Coding Instructors

BIR is seeking part-time Medical Coding Instructors for its Health Information Technology Program at its South Loop location.

Candidates should have:

  1. Solid knowledge of diagnostic and/or procedural coding and/or reimbursement; and
  2. A college degree and 3 years of hospital or clinical coding experience and be competent in medical software such as AltaPoint, Medisoft, Lytec or similar.

Prior teaching experience as well as CCS/CPC certification from AHIMA /AAPC are desirable.
